sailingaway12 Posted January 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2009 We'll be in St Lucia for the day early in March and were wondering if Pigeon Island is worth our time. How's the beach/snorkling? I can tell you about pigeon island beach. We did it after a zipline tour and that was a very nice little beach. It is in an enclosed park where you get to see both the Atlantic side which is very rough and the Caribbean sea which is very calm and tranquil. At Pigeon island on the Caribbean sea side there are two small beaches inside the park to choose from. Also there are toilet facilities (Very Clean), restaurants and bars and also if you want you take a 10 min. hike up to fort Rodney which is a military fort. On the grounds you will get to see old batteries, ruin barracks and garrisons from the 18th century wars between the British and French. Beach chairs are also available buut not umbrellas because we were shaded by the trees. Serenity tours took care of all entrance fees, beach chairs,we had our cooler of drinks and they catered a local lunch that we requested. From the fort you get such a beautiful view. We didn't snorkel so can't say about how good it is there. I notice they got a banner ad to the top of this page. Just click on it for more details. You will not regret it. Blue Hen Mom Posted January 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2009 We also will be in st.lucia in early march. We are wondering if their is a catamaran or taxi to take you to jealoise beach at the pitions. We would like to snorkel there and just have a beach day. Is there someone at port to take you or do you need to book ahead? Also what is the ship excursion like? Is it worth the money?
