Why are middle cabins better than fore or aft?

Some amount of less walking to get places, but mostly it's because of the presumably better ride.

In some forward cabins, you can hear the anchor going up/down, and in some aft cabins, there can be loud noise and/or vibrations due to the engines and all.

If you are suspectable to seasickness, this is the best place to be because of lest movement. The more centered and lower the better.

seasickness is no issue, but noise when I'm trying to sleep sure is!! :)

Also be careful about what is above or below you, sometimes you can hear noise from loud bars, kitchens, etc., especially if they are above you.

Right. Up front it's the theater, towards the back it's the casino and bars. I moved to midship for just this reason.

Its closer to the main elevators. Easy to find at 2AM!
