Carnival's Stingray City and Rum Point

Has anyone done this excursion through Carnival? How many people were in the Carnival group? How long did you get to stay at Rum Point?

I would prefer to use one of the private companies, but none of them offer a tour for those 2 places that meets our ship's time frame. On the other hand, I don't want to go with Carnival if the group is huge and the time at Rum Point is very short. I would appreciate any info from those who have done this.

We did this Carnival excursion in December. The stingray part of our tour was cancelled because of rough water. Our driver took us to Rum Point which took about an hour to get to. I would say we had maybe 14 people in our group-not a lot IMO. We stayed at the beach for about 3 hours which was plenty enough for us. We didn't have the best weather and it rained on and off.

We would have liked to do other things on the island as well, but with having to be back on the ship at 3 pm, there just wasn't time.

Did this on the week of 1/5/2009.

The boat holds 30ish. I was on the Micky Mouse. They didn't feed the rays as other boats did, so we didn't get the crowds of rays. However, they did hold rays to get pictures with.

After leaving the stingray area, you have about 90 minutes at Rum Point. I didn't think much of that, to be honest. Just a captive beach/shop/restaurant.
