Kid Sensation Posted January 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2009 Ok. So we are doing the beach thing for the day in St Martin on Feb 3rd. We are there from 9a.m to 5p.m. So many beautiful beaches so little time! So we have looked at Oreint, Divi, Anse Marcel and Pinel. I am leaning to Pinel, but wondering about the hassle to get there. My thoughts is - it would be less crowded?! Which one (if any) do you recommend? We are first timers and really want the full caribbean experience. What do you recommend and why? Kid Sensation Posted January 21, 2009 Author #2 Share Posted January 21, 2009 We also may want to consider Mullet Bay. Any thoughts. So many beaches so little time.
The Big Booper Posted January 21, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2009 We have never been to Pinel but from these boards you need to take a small ferry which is not always reliable. Try using the search function to find threads or posts discussing this. Our favorite is Orient. To avoid the crowds, stay away from the large beach bar areas such as Bikini, Kakao, Waikiki, etc. Club Orient at the Southern end is not as crowded as the places named above that cater to the cruise crowd; no vendors or commercial beach shacks are allowed, but it is clothing optional. If you bring your own towels you can sit for free, or pay any of the beach bars along the 1.5 or so mile beach to rent loungers and umbrellas. Divi is closer to the pier, 10 min by taxi as opposed to 25-30 min for Orient. Orient is on the French side, Divi on the Dutch.
