Star Mini Suite

We're first time cruisers with NCL. Have minisuite cat AG (cabin 11688)booked in future and wonder if anyone can tell us a little about these rooms. I know the basics listed on the website but wanted some first hand info from experienced cruisers. CCers are such a wealth of information. A photo would be a great plus. Thanks

We were on the Star in a Mini Suite over New Years. The cabin is very roomy there is either 2 twins or a king size bed. The couch makes into a bed and can seat 3 comfortably when it's not made up. The bathroom is the best with a tub shower combo and a toilet area where you can pull the door shut. The closet is a bit awkward with the shelves inside which can be hard to get to if you have a lot of hanging clothes. There is a light at the back of the closet which unless you know it's there you may not notice it. But it really helps you see what is inside. The balcony is roomier than a typical balcony and it has 2 chairs and a table. One of our chairs reclined. There is a fridge which we had them take all the drinks out of so that we could put the soda and water in we had brought on board. The beds are very comfortable and the linen was very nice. Overall, we loved it and were comfortable with a family of 4.

1) Understand that it is really a deluxe balcony, you don't get almost any suite privileges

2) The curtain separating the sleeping area from the sitting area is nice if you have a sigother with a different sleeping schedule than you

3) Aside from that, the bathtub is a nice plus if you are big on that

4) The cabins are slightly deeper and wider than a regular balcony

We got our mini-suite (deluxe balcony) as an upgrade, I wouldn't pay for it outright given the relative paucity of upgrades vs a balcony.

(Star Nov 8-15, 2008, had a great time)
