Navigator of the Seas Review 1.12.09

Recommended Posts

Jan 12th-17th 2009 Cozumel and Belize

Group of 4, 2 married couples, ages: 27, 28, 33, 34.

We got a really good deal on this cruise. $349/person for a Promenade stateroom a FL resident special; kinda takes the edge off the weather being lousy.

We arrived at the port at 1pm. Parked at Park 'n Fly very close to the ship. $55 for the duration of the cruise. Pick up and drop off was extremely efficient, no wait at all. No lines to board the ship. Once onboard we went to our room and enjoyed the bottle of champange and strawberries we had preordered. We ate in the Windjammer and then went to the Muster Drill. The ship is beautiful. I thought the Royal Promenade was awesome, especially for this cruise when the weather was so bad. The parade that night really fun.

Day 2 at Sea. We went to morning trivia at the Schooner Bar and lost miserably. Basically stayed inside and wandered all day. That evening was the Captain's welcome aboard reception in the Royal Promenade, champange was free flowing. Formal night in the dining room was fine. Overall food in the MDR was good, nothing really speculator, but better than average by all means. We partied in The Dungeon till late.

Day 3 Cozumel. Rain, rain and more rain. Took a cab to San Miguel tried to shop and stay dry. Went to Carlos 'n Charlies, I thought the food was poor and they didn't even have Carona! We went to Chops that night. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Not to be missed.

Day 4 Belize. The rain stopped but it cancelled our ATV Jungle tour. Our tour was suppose to start at 11:30 am but when we arrived at the pier we had to hunt down an Exploration member to even find out our excursion was cancelled. He apologized, and said that they had found out at 7 am that all jungle tours were cancelled, but didn't want to wake people to tell them. I know that a 7 am wake up call would have been rough, but we didn't arrive on the pier until 11:30 am, and it was too late to join another excursion. IMO a call should have been made. We went to the Wet Lizard and drank the local brew; Belkin. We ended up having good day anyways.

Day 5 at Sea. Windy and cold. Made the best of it and won $105 in the casino! I went ice skating. Had a spa treatment ($99 Peppermint scrub and a foot and ankle massage ~50 mins). Ate at Johnny Rockets. Rough seas. Watched the parade from our stateroom.

Highs: Royal Promanade, Chops, Two Poets Pub, Schooner Bar, Waiters in MDR and Chops, Ice Dancin' show, the ship in general!

Lows: Bad weather, 2 floating band-aids in the hot tub, shore excursion no call.

Overall a really great cruise, I'd love to sail again with nice warm weather.

DanieleBelle: Great review..we went on the Navigator last year and it was a

beautiful ship..Promenade Cabins that was a great deal..Sounds like you had

a great cruise..other than the weather.

As for chops you are right this is not to be missed..well worth the money to

go and for the service that you get.

Going to get a massage myself on my up coming cruise.

Did you get a chance to go to the Quest?

Yes, we did go to Quest. We had previously participated on Enchantment of the Seas, but we really enjoyed the large group teams on Navigator. We laughed and laughed at the false teeth being thrown at the team runners and their reactions. Great show!
