jfv379 Posted January 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2009 This came up in conversation last night Has anyone ever done this? If two couples are traveling together, and one couple is a past passenger and the other couple isn't, can the past passenger book both staterooms to get the other couple the cheaper fare? Is this any different than booking a cabin for children, adult or otherwise, who haven't cruised before? I'm sure the past passenger would have to pay for both cabins up front, and then get reimbursed from the other couple. They would certainly have to be good friends to front that kind of money. On a MR cruise, balcony stateroom, the price difference is in the neighborhood of $350.00 pp. What's your opinion or experience?

You would have to book one of the past passengers in each stateroom though. And then when you get onboard, go to the pursers desk and have the key cards, and accounts, changed to reflect the room numbers after you move back into the stateroom with your traveling partner. But this will provide the extra savings for both staterooms. ;) A past passenger can not just book two staterooms, one for another couple, unless one of the past passengers is actually booking the second stateroom and listed as staying in that room, to begin with. can786 Posted January 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2009 I actually had the Princess rep suggest this when I was checking pricing with them. Unfortunately we could not do this as my mother and I (both past passengers qualifying for great rates on Alaskan cruises) are doing a cruisetour and my brother and SIL, both new Princess cruisers, are doing the cruise only. Rare karatemom2 Posted January 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2009 We just did this when we booked onboard just a couple of weeks ago. We are a family of four and friends of ours with two children will be joining us on our cruise next Christmas. We booked one cabin for myself, my daughter, my friend and her daughter, and we booked a second cabin for my husband and son and her husband and son. It is for past passengers bringing new cruisers. Check with your travel agent and have them ask Princess if they are offering this on your sailing, you may not need to mess with all the changing. Thanks for the responses from everybody. Toto, as soon as I read your post it all came flooding back to my feeble mind.;) I remember all of this from previous posts.:D Sometimes there is just too much stuff to remember, especially when you suffer from CRS:eek:
madjohn Posted January 22, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 22, 2009 This was also suggested to me by my TA. Also was able to have the other people pay with their credit card. I dont think they really care where the money comes from as long as they get it. John
