CRUISERSWITHKIDS Posted January 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2009 Does anybody have any information regarding the park shuttle in danali? How long the tour lasts? How far into the park does it take you? We aren't able to take the twt due to time. Didn't know if this was an option for us.
Yukon Posted January 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2009 If you don't have time for the TWT you don't have time to take the shuttle very far into the park either, since the TWT doesn't go as far as the shuttle that most recommend (Eielson). You can go as far as you want on them, though - details at http://www.nps.gov/dena/planyourvisit/shuttle-buses.htm .

kenish Posted January 25, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2009 Regardless of which tour you take, seeing Denali normally requires 2 nights. I'm wondering what the time limitation is...you may have enough time for the shuttle tour, or you may not have enough time to make a visit to Denali worthwhile. agabbymama Posted January 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2009 What time are you arriving? We arrived at 1:00 in the afternoon, and was scheduled by HAL on the TWT at 2:30. We didn't actually get into the park until 3:00 and our tour lasted until 11:00 pm. Then the next morning, quite a few of us took the HAL tour to Jeff King's Husky Homstead. I was a little concerned about getting back in time for our 12:00 train, but the driver of the bus knew we all had to be back for it, and even told us not to worry, if need be he would drop us at the train station. You have to be aware of the time, but the drivers/guides, etc. all know the schedules too.
