Stingray Excursions - What's the difference?

I've noticed a few posts about the stingray excursions. Some of them go to Stingray City and others talk about a different sandbar where the water is shallower. Are these two different places or is there only one place to see the Stingrays? Can someone fill me in? Thanks.

They are near each other. There doesn't seem to be a uniform naming convention for the tours which adds to confusion. The sandbar ones go to the sandbar, but Stingray City (without sandbar in there somewhere) could be either.

 

If you see pictures of people standing, that is the sandbar. If they are wearing snorkel fins, that is Stingray City and is deeper.
