Has anyone been to Jardín Botánico de Río Piedras? From the various websites we've read, these gardens are well worth a visit. Would you agree? Can anyone recommend how we get there from the cruise pier?

We've been to the UPR Jardin Botanico on numerous occasions, both to just look around and to attend meetings of the local horticultural societies we belong to.

The garden is nice, it's just not well-maintained. If you do go, don't be expecting to see flowering gardens. You'll see trees, palms, maybe some blooming lotus and waterlilies, some heliconias and gingers. It could be a whole lot nicer (as was many years ago) if they took better care of it.

The only reasonable way to get there would be via taxi, which would be a metered fare.

Another option is the Botanical Garden in Caguas, which is a newer/younger garden.

Can anyone tell me if the University gardens have improved since this post from three years ago?
