Golf in Jamaica

We will be on Voyager the week of February 15. One of the stops is Montego Bay.

We have never been to Jamaica, but my brother and sister-in-law have. They were on the Conquest cruise where the people on the shore excursion were held up. They had signed up for that particular shore excursion, but had changed their mind at the last minute, thank goodness!

After their experience, and after reading the posts here, I am very concerned about being safe in Jamaica. My husband would like to play golf there, but I am nervous about it. Sometimes, on the golf course, you are out on your own and pretty far away from other people.

Has anyone ever done a Royal Caribbean golf shore excursion in Montego Bay. What would you recommend? Would you feel safe?

Thanks for your help!

In Jamaica you are assigned a caddy (caddies are mandatory in JA), so yo are not on the course alone. Also, the courses are all privately owned - attached to large resorts such as the Ritz-Carlton or Half Moon, so access is limited. Safety should not be a concern.

The caddies are wonderful.
