marydz Posted January 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2009 I am looking for everyone's opinion on the snorkeling options. Where is the better spot to snorkel... Goff's or Turneffe? What other excursions did everyone enjoy that they would do again in Belize?
sheil31 Posted January 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2009 We are travelling on Independence in a few weeks (depart 2/15/09)with son 13 and daughter 7. We have been so looking forward to snorkelling but haven't booked any excursions yet mainly because of RCLL's restriction on the snorkelling tours that all participants must be 8 or older. Our TA told us that we would not be able to sneak our daughter although she is an excellent swimmer. We are so disappointed. Does anyone know if the age restriction will be upheld by the independent tour operators as well? Any recommendations on tour operators we can contact for Belize, Costa Maya or Cozumel? Thanks for any suggestions!

The guides were very frinedly and knowledgeable - they stayed inthe water to make sure everyone was OK, and the boat followed along in the case of trouble. The Caye is a little over an acre with lots of little spots for privacy. You have about an hour of beach time after the snorkel tour, or you can go back in on your own. The fish and coral are really beautiful.
marydz Posted January 29, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 29, 2009 How deep is the water you are snorkeling in? Is the water more calm or choppy? Do you see more fish or coral? Looking for any insight on this excursion.
