Question, NCL/GEM Sailaway party

Late March, I'm mostly taking the GEM out of NYC. Departs at 5pm.

What is the sailaway like? I assume it's on the highest deck or pool deck?

Is there nice music? Any good drinks or food available?

This will be my in-laws 1st trip ever to America and 1st cruise. I think they'd get a kick out of a sailaway party so I was hoping someone could describe what its like.

The party was in Spinnaker. It was fun...music, a guy dressed up like Uncle Sam for photos, and lots of people. Don't recall any special food, we went and got food from the buffet as we hadn't eaten all day! They had the drink special - some tropical drink with vodka. Went outside to take photos of Lady Liberty and it was bitter cold and windy. There were a few brave folks out on the deck for the sailaway and that bar was open. A couple of people were in the hot tubs. My group was age 24 -79 and we all had fun! Hope your in-laws enjoy it!
