Private Dz ruins/Merida tour from pier or pre-book?

Ok, I need some help. I am a seasoned cruiser but my parents are not. Taking them to Progreso this Feb and I'm wondering if I should pre-book a private tour of the Dz ruins and Merida through Yucatan Travel with a guide and private car for 4 or try and work something out on the pier. I need an English speaking guide that can get us to both places without totally exausting my parents. We are in port from 7:00 am to 4:00pm. Cost for the private tour is $356. Wondering if I can get the same service from the pier or if I should just book the tour for peace of mind and sanity....
