cot427 Posted January 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2009 Ok this may sound a bit stupid on my part, but I was wondering, does the ship switch to local time. I remember something like that on one of my past cruises, but I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly. I will be on Independence. So if we have an independent tour meeting at 9:20 Belize local time, would that be 10:20 ship time, or do they switch? I just dont wanna be late for the tour. And I'm reading its about 20 minutes tender give or take?
sbnuggie Posted January 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2009 Ha! I just posted a clarifying question on the Carnvial Board about the Ship time port time issue especially when you throw in Daylight Savings time in the spring/summer/fall time period. Still waiting to hear a definate answer as this seems to be the biggest hurdle by us trying to book independant tours, the tour operators will quote you Shore time and you have to figure that out with the ship time, can be confusing, good luck and I will keep an eye out for ya if I hear anything. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=916513
GORDONCHICK Posted February 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2009 I've been on ships where they changed and where they didn't. We were on NCL Spirit last month, and the ship stayed on New Orleans time, the port we departed from. When I book independent excursions, I tell them what ship I'm on - they'll know when we get there. However, the problem with Belize is that you have to tender and it takes a while to do that. First, the VIPs go, then those on excursions booked through the ship, then everyone else.
