Slow Foxtrot Posted January 31, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2009 Having recently joined the San Francisco to Hong Kong sector of Oriana's World Cruise we were delighted when a letter was slipped under the cabin door informing us that due to the drop in oil prices our shipboard account would be credited with 453 pounds sterling !! Not often that happens in this day and age so full marks to P & O. For those interested in dancing there is an excellent dance-band on board called 'Natural High'. The tempos are perfect for the UK and international style of ballroom and latin dancing and there is even some sequence dancing. So, good news for British dancers. CASPALL Posted February 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2009 We did this sector last year on Aurora. Hope you have smoother seas than we had! Glad you like Natural High. We've come across them quite a few times now and enjoy their music. Make sure you go to hear them play jazz in the Crows Nest. Have fun!
nain and taid Posted February 2, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Yes BUT the money is on board credit. So you have to do lots of ships excursions, shopping or drinking to use up your refund! Bit of a double edged sword, as they won't refund the money to your card. Or they wouldn't when we were in a similar situation on Arcadia last month. cruisebore Posted February 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Is it possible to buy chips on your card in the casino and then cash them in without playing? Regards Cb
supered Posted February 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Is it possible to buy chips on your card in the casino and then cash them in without playing? Regards Cb Interesting idea Cb! I don't think I'd like to test that one though as you pay a 3% charge when you get Casino chips on your on board account. So you would loose money anyway. Stackerman Posted February 2, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2009 You can obtain cash on your cruise card in the casino if you like but you do pay the 3% charge. On Ventura you can obtain cash on your cruise card from reception without a charge, Which I was told will eventually be available throughout the fleet
capasamari Posted February 2, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Can you draw the cash in the currency of the ports you are visiting, e.g. $$ if you are in the Carbbean? If so, this would save having to find a cashpoint machine on land and would save having to take a large amount of cash with you. If I have understood you correctly, this is a great new service! Slow Foxtrot Posted February 2, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Yes BUT the money is on board credit. So you have to do lots of ships excursions, shopping or drinking to use up your refund! ..... If you spend a modest £15 a day on drinks (only £7.50. each for a couple) then 453 pounds in about 34 days is easily covered. No need to do unwanted excursions to use up that nominal amount on your shipboard account. If you don't drink at all then just treat yourself in the ship's shops. Regards Cb Hi Cb, Sorry but you cannot use OBC for the casino. However £400+ on a 34 night cruise will not go far. :):)Happy Cruising:):) Dai
