Puntarenas Camera Question

We have an excursion and will be walking around Puntarenas a little afterward. For those of you who have been to Puntarenas, how safe would it be to walk around with a large camera (like DSLR)? Should I leave that and take my pocket-sized camera?

Same as Cartegena....not a big issue, at least not in my mind.

I simply love Costa Rica and spend quite a few vacations there. With that said, I wouldn't bother with Puntarenas with or without a camera. There are some shops selling junky tourist stuff and a some places to eat and drink, but really nothing of interest.

 

If it were me, after doing whatever I did and ws dropped of in Puntarenas, I'd return to the ship and relax,
