waterloogirl Posted February 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Hi all, There is a thread started under the Jamaica forum; however, there's not much action over there so I thought I would post this question here... Sailing February 14th on Century with Jamaica port stop on 16th, have been deliberating over all day AI passes and, becuase of great reviews elsewhere, thinking of choosing the RIU Ochos Rios for the day. Any comments, other suggetions, advice...? Thanks in advance!!

Any comments, other suggetions, advice...? Thanks in advance!! In Jamaica we always stay on the ship. It's a great day with excellent service and no hassles. If you must go ashore, be sure to stay at an all inclusive and resist the temptation to go anywhere else.
waterloogirl Posted February 5, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Thank you!! I totally agree. I've been to Jamaica before and we will be heading straight to a resort and straight back. Does anyone have info on the RIU?...even if it's via a friend of a friend's friend ;)
teddytubby Posted February 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Hi Waterloo girl My wife & I are on the same cruise as yourself & have spoken to you on our roll call thread. I was considering Couples Resort San Souci for the day which appears excellent but quite expensive at $100 ea for a day pass. I had not heard of RIU Ochos Rios but I have read a few good reviews since your posting. You might have already read about it on:- http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g147312-d578213-Reviews-Riu_Ocho_Rios_Hotel-Ocho_Rios_Jamaica.html Have you had any quotes for a day pass?.............Ted
kampinguru Posted February 5, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2009 I will be playing golf at Sandals Gold and Country Club, and my wife will most likely be going to one of the AI resorts. Not sure which one yet.
waterloogirl Posted February 5, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Hi Teddytubby. I emailed RIU and received a very quick response quoting $80 for the day pass which includes everything. The only caveat is that they recommended emailing back to secure the day pass for the group (there are four of us) approx 3 days prior to arrival. They limit their day pass availability based on the number of FT guests during that time. I plan to email them back next Thursday. If we don't receive a response, we plan to just show up and hope for the best ;) The Resort sounds wonderful. We've stayed at RIU's in the past in several other spots and are very much looking forward to this day!!
teddytubby Posted February 5, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Hi Waterloo Girl I emailed them today, waiting for a reply, so will let you know if I get a different answer. Sounds good to me & cheaper than Sans Souci. We're going to Grand Cayman Beach Suites in Grand Cayman only 25 dollars ea although not AI. Booking Hemmingways restaurant for lunch as I've read loads of excellent reviews. Are you coming for drink at 3 on satuday?.............Ted
teddytubby Posted February 6, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Hi Waterloo Girl I phoned the resort today & they confirmed the same price you were quoted.......Ted
