myr seashell Posted February 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Hi, We're going to be in Grand Turk in a few weeks, and we're really looking forward to it. Have a few questions for anyone who's been, regarding the beaches: we are thinking of going to Governor's beach, as it looks nice from other threads, but also hear of Pillory Beach. Does anyone have a preference as to which beach - and why? Also, do we rent the chairs at the beach, and would anyone know the cost of renting them? Lastly, should we want to go to Pillory Beach, any idea of how much a taxi would be? Thanks for any suggestions!
lotro Posted February 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2009 I've only been to Governor's Beach, so can only give my assessment of it. I would recommend this beach highly. You can rent a chair here and there is a food stand here also. When we were here, the beach was practically desserted, so we got the chairs for free...no one came around to collect any $$. The beach was very peaceful and I collected my first pieces of sea glass there. My b/f did a bit of snorkeling.
shark_bait Posted February 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Lori- What kind of refreshments did the food stand have???? Beer, Rum Punch, Soda's???? Did your BF say how good the snorkeling was???
lotro Posted February 7, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2009 BF said the snorkeling was good--he saw lots of neat fish and coral, but he's a novice so anything is interesting to him. He said he's no expert, so you may want to get an opinion somewhere else. He did spend several hours here and was quite intrigued with what he saw. They had Heineken and local import beers...also soda. Can't recall if there was rum punch. You will see the cruise ship from this beach.
