kiraryker Posted February 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2009 We are just wondering if my father would be able to join us - he would enjoy staying on the boat - he uses a walker (had a stroke) but my husband and brother in law can help him on & off the boat but I know he couldn't easily do a ladder. Does anyone know if this excursion would be possible for him? We called Carnival and they couldn't tell us.
pjs9876 Posted February 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2009 If this is the little sub... there are about 2-3 steps down a ladderlike step to get to where you sit.
roysue Posted February 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2009 Captain Nautica is a great adventure, but getting on the boat and off the boat would be difficult for someone handicapped. It is somewhat of an inflatable boat and it travels at a pretty good speed. You exit the boat in probably about 10 -15 feet of water, so you have to be comfortable "dropping" over the side, slipping under the water and thenpop back up. My husband is in excellent physical condition but not a strong swimmer and had difficulty with this. I think that they did put down some sort of small ladder for getting back on the boat. I did find the Captain Nautica folks very helpful. I have a picture of the boat that they used last year, but I can't figure out how to upload it. If you want to email me directly, I can email the pictures back to you. My email is roysue@comcast.net
