lgfromdg Posted February 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2009 20 people from my Roll Call are doing an independent excursion together in Samana which is a tender port. We'll need to get off at around the same time to catch a van to get to the boat we've rented. I know we can get up early to get the numbered tender tickets but my question is whether one of us could get them for the group or do we need to each get them for ourselves? You will need one person for each stateroom. You can only get the tickets for yourself and others in your same room. Edit: If they didn't have that rule some smarty would be first in line and grab 20 tickets, then try and sell them to the people at the end of the line. :)
retiredonthesea Posted February 13, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2009 Are any of you in a "suite" AE or higher. If you are you can ask your concierge to get the tender tk'ts for you. We did this on our Jewel private excursion. (Samana) I got 25 of them and our con. Alex met us in the Crystal Atrium and escorted us down to the departure deck. I think we had 4 other people that where in suites also. I don't know if all Concierges will do this, but Alex was over the top for us on the Jewel. Priority tender tickets delivered to your stateroom are one of the Suite perks so yes you get them, even if you had not asked. you also get escorted normally. Each person who had reserved a boat got tickets for his entire boat of 10. (We were there before the designated time to distribute them, BTW to ensure we would be on the first tender). Two of us got 10 tickets each and distributed them at the Java Cafe area where we'd decided to meet. At our meet and greet the ship coordinator told us to do it that way so that the line would move rapidly. It was not out of the natural order of things, and did not require any special handling. Just be early to get in line. We watched the excursion pax disembark from the promenade deck and when they called for the pax holding tender tickets, all of us were in the first group, so walked down the stairs to the tender. No problem whatsoever). One in our group had to get 40 tickets. Again, no problem. I saw her again in the tender line for St Thomas, getting 40 again, and to save line space she got 6 more for two other families in our roll call, making 46. The ticket distributor did not make any funny faces or comments, either. This is the way to do it. No one was selling tender tickets that I saw, but then, I was on the first tenders! Yes, but we got them for EVERYONE and 19 of the 25 where not in suites. What I'am saying as you can ask for other people if they are in a group with you. lgfromdg Posted February 13, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted February 13, 2009 Thanks to everyone for the replies. I've asked on the Roll call if anyone is in a suite to see if we could handle it that way. If not, I know I'd be uncomfortable asking for 10 tender tickets but would be willing to ask for a couple more.
maggie0104 Posted February 13, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 13, 2009 On our cruise, I've seen many people taking 20-40 tickets per person, I don't think you have to worry about 10. The PA annoncements verify that only one person needs to go to collect tickets for the entire party. Make sure to be there about 20 minutes early to get a good spot in line, very likely they will start ticket distribution 10-15 minutes early anyway
