Welcome to cruising..:D As far as your room goes you have a Balcony cabin and will probably always need one after this cruise as they are very addictive..:D I will be on the SKY 3 weeks after you and also am looking forward to it. You can do as much or as little as you would like so it is REALLY up to you. Enjoy your first as EVERYTHING will be new..:) It took me two days after returning from my first cruise to book my second. As I said before, Welcome to cruising..:D

Thanks I can hardly wait! I am so looking forward to this.

Am wondering about smoking, can you smoke in the rooms or on the balconies? Or is it just in certain areas?

This will be my first cruise WITH NCL so I am just guessing here but on Carnival and Royal Caribbean you CAN'T SMOKE in your cabins BUT YOU CAN SMOKE ON YOUR BALCONY. Their are other areas that will allow smoking for the most part such as the Casino and some bars. Hopefully someone that is more seasoned with NCL can answer. Make sure you are on the pool deck during the sail away party. Their is no better feeling then watching all your stresses of everyday life stay on shore as you sail out to Sea..:D It's AWESOME ! :D

You can smoke in any of the rooms. You can also smoke in the casino and in a couple spots on deck.

At the muster drill on Sky recently, something was announced like "please don't smoke in bed" (duh!) but the announcement didn't say anything about not smoking in your cabin. Our cabin was on Deck 10 forward, and the halls absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke, morning, noon and night. We could not smell it in our cabin, though. I would not be a happy cruiser to check into my cabin only to have it smell like an ashtray. What's the solution? Smoking and non-smoking cabins?

Am wondering about deck 9 (Fjord Deck) When I booked I had no clue as to what the differences was for each class so Im still not sure if I got a good deal or not but for a first cruise I wont know the difference anyway. But for future reference (I know I will be hooked) what is the differences between the classes and which one is better?

The "BA" Balcony's are the AFT CABINS ACROSS THE VERY BACK OF THE SHIP and have two FULL SIZED GLASS DOORS instead of one Porthole window and are the most sought after as you have a FULL VIEW or everything behind you plus you can see left and right. A "BB" or "BC" Balcony cabin you can only see the one side of the ship you are on. So for the extra $40.00 or so the "BA"'s are nice if they are still open. I Have one on deck 9 and would say that would be the deck to try for. The Norway deck on Deck 10 have "BA" cabins but have a outdoor dining option on the deck above them that sets up early above you so you will hear chairs scraping at 5:30am if that kind of thing would bother you. Below the "BA"'s on Deck 8 Viking Deck has a Theater and can be LOUD.. So as I said, Deck 9 is sandwiched in the middle and the way to go.. I HOPE .. I'll know in 49 Days.. :D

Mr. Jailer Man..

I am sailing on NCL SKY April 20 4 days. My cabin is 9076 and I am wondering which cabin you have booked? I have never sailed on NCL and never have had a balcony cabin so I am sooo excited to have it. When I booked this cabin I studied the decks to make sure I wasn't in a cabin below or above an area that could possibly be noisy because I am a light sleeper. So being sandwhiched between Deck 8 and 10 looked like the best bet. I just hope my neighbors aren't the party type out on their deck all night long. Can you let me know if you can hear your neighbors out on their deck late at night? Thanks!!:)

Ugh! Don't know a good answer because I know some people do enjoy smoking, but I guess I am allergic to it as I can't breathe very well after being in a club or casino for a short while. Hopefully I will be lucky and there won't be many smokers on my sailing????

Ah thank you so much for clearing that up for me. So looks like I did make the right deck choice! I booked late so I doubt I could have gotten an AFT balcony but I will for my next cruise! And I to hope I dont have all night party people that will disturb my quiet time on my balcony!(may have to bring earplugs?lol)

They use special equipment to clean the air in cabins which had smokers in it previously. They also will shampoo furniture etc if necessary. If you search the boards you will very rarely find anyone who claims that their cabins smell like smoke when they enter them. The cruiselines have it down to a science when it comes to getting rid of all smoke odor, so you won't have any issues with that.

Btw, smoke is an irritant, not an allergin. Either way though, if it affects you negatively, it's not a pleasant thing. Don't worry about it though. There will be plenty of smokers on board but the majority are respectful of other peoples rights, and will only smoke where they are allowed to do so. And, should you see someone smoking where they aren't permitted to do so, please bring it to the crews attention. They will see that the problem is taken care of.

On NCL smoking is restricted inside except for a couple places...the casino and in the cigar bar (if the ship has one). Smoking is allowed in cabins, on balcony's and in designated areas on the outside decks. No smoking is allowed in nor around any food venues, including outdoor dining areas such as the outdoor cafe.

I will be next door to you in #9077. I think you will be very pleased with your choice. Did you look up the Youtube video that I talked about earlier ? If not, Go to Youtube.com (You may have to register for free with a bogus name:rolleyes:) But after you do that, Type in the seach section NCL SKY. On the 1st page that appears you will see a video with a hand holding a remote control. Click on that hand and that is a "BA" Balcony tour of #0067 on the Norway Deck above us. The video is only a month old so it is still current. The guys who shot the video are a bit drunk but the video is still good for seeing a tour of the cabin and balcony.. Enjoy..:)

Thanks for the great info! I am a smoker(sigh I know its a bad habit) but I wont smoke where I am not suppose to. I am glad to be able to smoke out on the balcony as this is where I plan on spending most of my time. 28 days and counting! I am so excited about this trip!:D
