twinkletoes4445 Posted February 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2009 We were docked with the Ventura in St. Maarten on 1/26/09. We had a blast watching those that were on the Ventura at sailaway. I've never seen anything like it before! It looked like everyone was waiving a British flag...and everyone was singing. It was a lot of fun! Thanks! :) Here are some pictures that we took.. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2426758580104783828EgIzFd http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2424299220104783828jDYhhy http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2411311320104783828LXKHKI http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2995565040104783828CNUMGt http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2090562460104783828ebqOTq
tuppence Posted February 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2009 We did have a great time in port that day and as I keep saying to all the people who have said not very nice things about Ventura. You are wrong Ventura is a great friendly ship and I can't wait to sail on her again. I think its great to see other ships in port and to share some excursions with them. We did The Americas Cup race that day and we had a mixed crew which made it a lot of fun.:)

twinkletoes4445 Posted February 15, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted February 15, 2009 If this is how you always do a sailaway, I'll have to keep an eye out for more ships. It was just so much fun watching everyone on the Ventura. :)

We had a great cruise. We did note a lot of people running round your deck as you cam in, was this a charity do? It looked that sort of thing? :):)Happy Cruising:):) Dai

It looked that sort of thing? Happy Cruising:) Dai It was just a regular sailing, nothing special...but a charity fund-raising sailing would be something fun to do. :) We've sailed on HAL before (we're in our early 50's) and usually we're some of the youngest, but on this sailing a lot more passengers were our age, or around it, which surprised me (for a 10-day sailing). We noticed a lot of people dancing and quite a few doing a conga line in the aft pool area when we'd leave the ports. We really had a good time on our cruise...and watching your group just made it all that much more fun! I did my dancing while on shore...lol In St. Luica I danced with the group of tour guides. It was fun. We decided to go to the aft pool to watch the sail away. We were going up in the glass elevators when we first caught a glimpse of your group and the flags, and we about missed it. We hurried and tried to get as close to the railing as we could, but everyone else had the same idea. I do have video also, so I'll get hubby to help me get that on my webshots page (I think you can do that). Maybe we have you in the video. :) Had we gotten there sooner, I would have gotten more pictures. Next time we're in port with you guys, I'll know to be prepared with my camera and a good spot! Happy Cruising!! :)
