tinylittlecruiser Posted February 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2009 I'm relatively new to Cruise Critic and wanted to give you background of my profile picture. Tattoos originated in French Polynesia and when in Rome... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattoo At the time of my first-ever cruise, which was on RSSC's Paul Gauguin, I knew I wanted to add to my tattoo "collection". Prior to the sailing, I researched tattoo studios in Bora Bora and Moorea. I chose a studio but never made it due to an e-mail miscommunication. I wound up in an off the beaten path (if that exists in Moorea) hut and voila! I had already decided on a tribal tattoo, so when I discovered the tattooist spoke only French, I pointed to a design in a book he had. Once I approved his freehand drawing on my skin the excitement began! When he finished, I loved the final result and paid him with cash, in USD. I'll be on the Mariner from Sydney-Auckland in November. The search is on for my next ink. Stay tuned...!
