Hi!

We did this... except we stayed at Disney and then went on a cruise. For this trip we decided to rent a car since were were there for about a week before our cruise. We then drove to Port Canaveral and parked there. It was very easy to navigate around and a pretty drive as well!

We are driving to pom for our 7 day, then after the cruise we are staying at POP century for 2 nights with 1 full day for Magic kingdom. We figure sat afternoon will be a pool day and a day at downtown disney. This is our second time @ WDW and MK has the best disney feel. BTW; my family is 4, all adult pricing. Disney considers 10 y/o an adult. The Pop Century is a value resort. 2 nights in june w/4 1-day park tickets was $600.

We've done the Disney/cruise combo twice; first with a week at WDW followed by a week on a cruise, then a week on a cruise followed by 10 days at WDW. IMHO, I much prefer to do Disney first, then the cruise, particularly if you're not staying in a deluxe hotel at WDW.

We've stayed at both value and moderate hotels at WDW, and don't have any problems with either one, but it was tough going from the luxury of the ship to even a moderate hotel. Also, we pretty much wear ourselves out at WDW, and look forward to relaxing and unwinding on the ship afterwards. When we went to WDW after the cruise, it was hard to get motivated to get up and moving every day, though it was probably good for burning off some of those cruise calories, lol.
