k8lin_VA Posted February 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2009 For anyone that has used the babysitting on RCCL, can you charge this to your seapass, or do you have to pay them cash? Is it a set rate, or varies? Of course we'll give a tip and all, but I just want to be prepared with how much cash to take with us. We plan on using a sitter most nights after DD is in bed (7:30-11:00 or so). We have 2 cabins, so the sitter can sit in MIL's cabin with our video monitor while DD is in our cabin next door. Thanks in advance!
boulders Posted February 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2009 The in cabin babysitting is paid in cash directly to the babysitter. The rate is $10-12 and varies depending on who is babysitting. I would not count on the video monitor working in an adjacent cabin. Baby monitors and walkie talkies don't work very well on ships. I used the in cabin babysitting with my 2 year old and the babysitter sat watching TV with the cabin lights out.
kitty9 Posted February 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2009 Onboard Extras Q: Are babysitters available onboard? A: Babysitting is offered both in a group setting, and individually in your stateroom. In stateroom babysitting must be reserved through the Guest Relations Desk (Purser's Desk) at least 24 hours in advance. It cannot be reserved prior to the cruise vacation and there is no guarantee that sitters will be available. The service is offered between 8:00 am and 2:00 am when personnel is available. Sitters will be assigned on a first come first served basis Children MUST be at least 1 year old. Approximate Rate: $10.00 per hour for one or two children within the same family or $15.00 per hour for three children within the same family. Times and prices are subject to change without notice. Payment must be made in cash. In all likelihood, the video monitor won't work, so don't be disappointed.
