Suites and Villas

There was a woman who used to sail on the Cunard Vistafjord / Caronia who always took the penthouse--starboard, I believe--and they would change out all the furniture just for her and put her own in that they stored on board for her.

Some people...........................

That's got to be folklore. I just can't imagine a cruiseline storing personal furniture for a guest. Then again...stranger things have happened.

Thanks for your thoughtful post. I've stayed in the Villas at Rio All Suite and the MGM Grand hotels in Las Vegas which are all Tuscan colors. I guess that's what I expected when I heard the word villa.

You're welcome. It is true this is different from most hotel suites I have been in as well, but I think it is better. Once you take your first look at the sea from the floor to ceiling windows, the colors of the floor will disappear from your mind I think. Maybe it is the way the bright Caribbean sun mixes with the carpet, but you really do get used to them. We were nervous when we found out we were staying in the bright orange villa on the Pearl last year, but we went and had an amazing time. The service and amenities really do make up for it. The courtyard, gardens, sundecks, etc are not brightly colored, maybe you could spend more time out there.

NCL should photograph from a different location, because the colors are really not as bad as they seem from the photos. Maybe someone here could post some photos which put the colors in a more positive light.

Again, you will have an amazing time if you go; don't miss out because of the colors.

Hi all you NCL experts. We have been going RCCL for some years now, but as they will not have a presence in Europe next year, onwards to the Jade which goes from Barcelona!!!

The Jade has been renamed I believe, but is it the same as the Pearl etc.?

Anyone actually know about the suites on the Jade itself?

Two ladies travelling and only one bed!! Is it a king or just a double?

Does the Jade have the courtyard, a covered pool area for the suites and/or a concierge lounge?

Would we be better just booking a regular balcony, or do the extras on

the Jade make a suite worthwhile?

Any handicapped balcony cabins on the Jade? The deck plans I can find, are not very clear on this subject!!

We've never been on the Jade, but they do have HC rooms. They are the ones with the square black box. If you roll over the symbols, it will tell you what each of them is.

11650 and 11654, both Aft AF minisuites are HC. Also 2 of the 9th deck AE Penthouses are HC accessible. There are others also.

We think the extras are worthwhile, but you may not depending on what you're looking for.

Have a great time.

The Jade is the former Pride of Hawaii, and it is a sister to the Pearl.

In order to be able to go to the courtyard, you have to be in an AA suite or above (AA, A4, A3, A2 & A1). However, the AA suites are not on the courtyard deck. The AA suites are on decks nine and ten. The courtyard is on decks fourteen (A1, A3 & A4) and fifteen (A2).

Just returned from the Jade this past Friday. We were in an "AD" suite. Perks were wonderful. Probably can't answer all your questions, but here goes:

Original name - Pride of Hawaii

Courtyard - yes...on deck 14 I believe....we were on deck ten aft

Suites beat balcony anytime for the following reasons:

- breakfast and/or lunch in Cagneys -- awesome

- can order from any restaurant for room service

- concierge and butler at your service all the time

- pick & change your appetizers delivered to your room daily

- escorted embarkation

- captain's cocktail reception

- courtyard cocktail reception

Handicapped rooms - yes, but I don't have all the details

Loved the Jade and really enjoyed the suite perks!!!

truly! I got so tickled when I read the post this morning, but I have to say that is a thought. Never thought about sleeping on the balcony :D

Hey, where was this picture taken?

Believe it or not, we got snow in Southtown yesterday. Somebody better call the Heat Mizer cause Snow Mizer showed up in ATL and it was a BLAST!

Glad you enjoyed your snow!!! :D

That picture was taken on the Dawn an hour after we docked in NYC. Not a flake of snow came down until we docked and we had quite a bit by the time we were off the ship. It took our ride 6 hours, round trip from New Fairfield, CT, which is a one hour drive each way.

This was early the next morning and afternoon....

You know, I would find it utterly impossible to go on a cruise and return home to cold and snow. I mean...you leave the snow, cruise the Med wearing a bikini for a week, then back to the snow and cold. Knowing me, I'd be depressed.

That was our first winter cruise and coming back to the snow was not ideal, but we had a great time and a nice winter escape. I prefer spring or fall cruises.

We also hit a snowstorm on the way. They were predicting white out conditions on Saturday and said if you had to be anywhere that would be impossible. Our cruise was leaving on Sunday and we weren't taking any chances on missing it, so we left Friday night to stay at our friend's. The snow started when we were on our way and it took us 8 hours for the normally 3 hour trip. It was not fun.... The cruise was though. :D
