Pepperwood Posted March 2, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2009 Hi,Can I use US currency while in Barbados? Payment for tours, cabs, tips etc? Or is Barbados $$ preferred? US dollars are accepted at a fixed rate of 2 Barbados dollars = $US1. However, you will get change in Barbados dollars, so be prepared to spend it by the end of the day... (We got a handful of Barbados dollars when buying internet time and coffee in US$, but used it to buy snacks and drinks at a grocery store, and then to pay for the taxi driver who took us back to the ship.) jayred1 Posted March 3, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2009 Yes they will take either. I suggest that you have smaller bills available so that you don't get $19 worth of Barbados change after handing a twenty for that dollar purchase. Happened to a friend last week, so then we had to stick around and buy $19 worth of food and drink. (Maybe it was a good idea if it means the friend is buying!!!)
