We ALWAYS rent a car in Juneau so we can go to the glacier and the church on Auke Lake (on the grounds of the University, right by the glacier) and to the Museum and maybe a stop at Fred Meyer and/or the Rainforest Flower place...........

but

we learned a lesson well the first time.

The cars are at the airport; they pick you up but you are on your own to return to the dock..............it was $28.00 four years ago for one person...........more if anyone came with you to return the car (read, TAXI here)...............

The only one that's not clear out at the airport is rent a wreck and they are great. Last time, they had our car parked right inside the parking garage at the dock with the keys inside for us.............a lovely new Taurus.................they aren't wrecks! You return the car to their place near downtown and they then drive you back to the dock.

It's about $60. including tax for a sedan.

Once you return the car, EVERYTHING ELSE is right there by the dock.........lost of shopping, the famous taverns, etc. plus the "ride to the top."

Thanks KAYEF, We just called Alamo who we had a reservation with and they confirmed what you wrote. They told DH that it would be $25-30 each way for a taxi. We have now changed our reservation to Rent A Wreck. Thank you again, Robyn
