Personalized touring with Nacho

:)We had booked a private tour of the cave tubing adventure with Nacho prior to sailing on the Norwegian Sun. The booking arrangements were simple and instructions to find him outside the terminal gate were easy as well. We were looking forward to experiencing this excursion without the crowds and being herded about like cattle with over 100 people per bus and such. And Nacho had assured us that getting an early start would put us far ahead of the crowds. However, our itinerary for four irst port of the cruise being originally Costa Maya (a great site for Mayan ruins) was changed to Grand Cayman only two days before our departure and we had to make a last minute choice. Did we opt to fit in some site seeing of the Mayan ruins only available now at Belize or did we do the cave and river tubing which had been my first choice from the very start of booking our cruise. We contacted Nacho by email as soon as we first found out that Norwegian had changed their itinerary and he was more than willing to attempt to accommodate our request to visit both sites, but expressed concern and doubted that there would be enough time to do both because of their geographical locations. He was right. After we waited for what seemed like forecer to have the port authorities approve our disembarkation we also had to wait until all the ship's excursions had disembarked before we were allowed to tender to port. Meaning that we were on the last tender. We were now at least an hour late in meeting Nacho outside the gates and were worried that he would think that we were "no-shows". We were very pleased to find that he had waited the extra time. And now with time being a definite challenge we had to decide to do only one excursion instead of the two. Nacho offered some advice based on the week's previous weather and as a group we voted for the Mayan ruins and we were not disappointed. The entire week of weather on the boat had been slightly cool the whole trip, which was in itself surprising to us as we had expected heat, and Nacho said the rains a couple days prior would have the river water slightly cool as well. This was part of the basis for our decision to enjoy the ruins alone. We had an absolutely marvelous tour. It was nicely paced (at whatever we decided) and Nacho gave a historical and botanical update on much of Belize. He named trees, plants, explorers, etc. He was very knowledgable and personable, and accommodating. He even moved to the back seat in order to allow all four of us to hear him while he spoke. (I have a hearing disability). His wife, Cindy did all the driving and we were very impressed with her skills and her knowledge as well. She has some Mayan background which enabled us to ask many questions which either one of them were capable of answering. We arrived at the ruins (Aluhum Ha - sp) and Nacho was very good about keeping us away from the crowds and giving us the private tour without interruption. Though he was very willing to offer more knowledge to others as well when asked, he was careful to give the best of service to us. We were allowed to tour at our own leisure and we ventured into the rainforest until the mosquitoes became too bad. Nacho had warned us to spray first. After our tour of the ruins we ventured back towards port and we were treated to a quaint native lunch at a roadside stand. What it lacked it appearance it made up for in taste. The food was excellent and afforded us to a great cultural experience. When we shared that we only had need of stopping to shop for the remainder of our stay in Belize he and Cindy made sure that we did our souvenier shopping in the center of town where the prices were more reasonable. They privately accommodated us for the remainder of the day and showed us where the best prices were and continued to give us an educational experience. They were fountains of information and most pleasant guides. And most of all, very reasonable for private service. I would highly recommend your securing their service if you dislike being herded about like cattle and having to keep to the excursion timelines.:)
