Gifts to give fellow cruisers

I am planning on doing gift bags for our girl's trip in October. I want to give them things for the room or cruise that will make it easier for them or will be something they didn't think of that they will need.

 

I am the only one that has cruised more than once. Two are completely new to cruising and the other has only cruised once about 10 years ago. We normally all travel together to Vegas but I have finally convinced them that a cruise would be more fun!

 

I have gotten each of them an over the door organizer with there name monogramed on it. But what else can I give them?

 

Lip balm? Lanyard? What items are key for you to have on your cruise that most people don't think of?

 

Thanks so much. I am hoping to be able to grab it all this summer while they have the summer items out.

Travel size wrinkle releaser - like Downy...Tylenol, Alka Seltzer, lotions, any toiletry type things...

Target also has a great section with little lotions, laundry detergent, toothpaste, etc.

 

You could get some drink coupons and put them in there too.. I'm not sure how the drink coupons work as I have not used them before but I think I read you get them on the first night.

What great ideas.. post it notes are PERFECT because we will be in two cabins and need to leave notes for each other!

 

I would never have thought of highlighters but that would be handy for highlighing things we want to do in the capers!

 

And wrinkle release.. PERFECT idea!

 

I will have to check out how the drink coupons work.. I have gotten them once before but DH was the one to go redeem them when we got drinks.

We gave everyone in our group a disposable camera...the deal was they were for pictures of each other, you know just random candid shots. The great part was there was no deleting of "bad" pictures. We collected the cameras after the cruise and had the pictures developed (there was a get two prints for the price of one deal that worked great). And finally the people who were always taking the pics had some of themselves.

**this is just an idea.. you said youre doing baskets??...well for my bridesmaids, for their gift when I got married.. I bought some beach type totes and got their names embroidered on them, wasnt expensive at all.. and then filled their bags up with gifts/goodies

That's a really cute idea. Um, something to hang on the door outside so you can find your room easily. I'll ditto highlighters for the capers, and Alka Selzer for the hangovers. :P

If they are planning any excursions, a waterproof or under water camera(disposable) might be a good idea. I just took 6 teenage girls on a 7 day W. Caribbean and they all did snorkling excursions. Each pair bought 1 camera and shared it. When we got home, they had double prints made.

I got my girls little telescopic travel umbrellas. It seems nearly every time I go shopping in Mexico, it rains.

We are all driving down together (3 of the 4 of us live in the DFW area).

 

Hopefully we will board early and then I can sneek to the rooms before they do!

If you're artistic - get paint pens and decorate some large insulated mugs! These are great to use when laying out - and if they're decorated, it minimizes the chances of someone taking theirs!

Try eBay for bulk things like the bags or www.orientaltrading.com look under luau they have some cool fun luau stuff, tie dye bags, leis (for sailway), silly sunglasses, little mini buckets and spades - most things come in sets of 12. Most of it isn't practical like lip balm highlighters etc but doing goody bags - speaking from experience it is always good to put a couple of fun/cute things in too.

 

Another thing is going in a group a cool idea is to have a competition on designing a sign for your door - also helps you find your cabin after a few drinks!! :rolleyes:

or you can cheat like I did, get the travel mugs that you can put photos in, I got 16 and 24 oz ones at Rite aid and 11oz ones at the dollar store. I printed out a collarge of pics of our last holidays together and made each one a little different so we know whos is whos.

 

Target had packs of 4 mini highlighters and packs of 4 magnetic jumbo clips too in their $1 section at the front of the store.

Myself and 3 of my close friends are going on a cruise next month, first for all of us. We have been planning this for over a year, so on the date , 1 year before we were to go I had them over for a cruise kick-off party. I served tropical type food and got backpacks in a tropical fabric from Oriental Trading, which I filled with many of the things already suggested. I also included a small handheld battery fan for when it gets really hot on those excursions, also a small notebook and pen. I wrote info. in the notebook (things they needed to know and things I have learned reading cc) They can also use it as a travel journal. Another thing I did was to make shirts on the Carnival web site (GIRLS CRUISE) we are going to wear them the first day. Oh yes I almost forgot, I found a light weight tote that folds up very small that we can easily carry with us, you know, to carry our purchases, just in case we do any shopping!:D

I hope you all have as much fun as we are planning to, now that it is this close it's so hard to wait!:)

a travel mug to take coffee, lemonade, ??? to Lido deck

highlighters to sit around and plan your days

mini hand sanitizers so you are not always going to wash your hands

door hangers so you know where you are

this first round of DOD's so that they owe you (only kidding)

could go on and on but let others get in on this

I had personalized can coolers made for our group last year. Most of us are beer drinkers so it worked out great!!
