I sailed on the Liberty on Feb 14th, sorry for the late review!!

This was the first cruise my husband and I had been on. We had a blast!! We got on the ship and received our S&S card and saw our dining time. I had requested the early time but found my card said we had the 8:15 seating. We discussed it and decided that we wouldn't bother changing it. We went to supper that night and while we were waiting to enter the dining room we met a nice couple and they said their dining time was also changed and they tried to change it back but were told that there were over 700 German's on the boat and they all wanted the early sitting so A LOT of people got changed. This didn't affect us at all as I think it was a blessing in disguise; however, there were families that had small children falling asleep at supper due to the fact that their dining time was changed.

The only other thing I was disappointed with was the fact that I was looking forward to meeting people to hang out with (possibly another couple) so I thought that we would have a table with 8 people at it.....low and behold we got a table for two!!! I am sure there are a lot of people that would love a table for two but I was a bit disappointed!!

OK:

Food:

FABULOUS!!!!!! I can't say enough about the food in the dining room, every night we had a variery of food to choose from and you could order as much as you wanted!! The warm chocolate melting cake was TO DIE FOR!!! I think that I ate 5 in the six nights we ate at the restaurant!! The only night we didn't go for supper was when we got schnakkard up at Fat Tuesdays in Cozumel, so we hit the buffet and it was pretty good......I was hungry from the booze so I think that a dirty sock would have tasted good too!!!

We ate the buffet for lunch a couple of days and it was pretty good, the fish and chips are a MUST HAVE as is the deli and the pizzaria!! If you get a chance, have the calzone!!

Room service was TERRIBLE!! We ordered on the morning of our day in Grand Caymen as we had a tour booked and had to be up early. We didn't receive half our food and no milk for my cereal so I ended up running down to the buffet and picked up food to go....much better!!

Room:

Our room was GREAT!!!! We upgraded to a floor to ceiling window room.......can't imagine not having it now!!! Were on the Spa deck room 1116, a little noisy by the elevator but earplugs fixxed that problem!! We were nice and close to the pool and buffets so that was nice!!

Pool:

I was SO aggravated by people hogging chairs by the pool, do people not understand how inconsiderate it is!! We were sitting by the pool by the pizzeria and we had chairs but there were about 8 chairs in row where for 4 hrs NO ONE was there!! The next sea days we went to the 12 deck and got some chairs and stayed there for the day!! It was nice, no kids and a breeze to keep us cool!!

I was a little disappointed with the pools as they were relatively small, very cold and kids everywhere!! I was under the impression that there was an adult pool....not on the Liberty!!! The hot tubs were full all the time....even the adult only ones, with kids!! It says on a sign they are to be accompanied by an adult but the one time I sat in there and was kicked and splashed there were NO adults!! Don't get me wrong, I love kids, I have a two year old....but I left her with grandparents so I didn't really want to be splashed by unsupervised kids in the adult hottub....if I wanted that I would stay home next to the bath tub while I bath my little girl!!!

Entertainment:

Tons to do on Liberty!!! We gambled at the casino and in their blackjack tournaments, played Bingo, went to the shows. The two dance shows were very cheesy...would not go back!!

Two words TONY RAY!!!!! Every night before supper we went and had a drink and listened to Tony Ray outside of the casino....he was FABULOUS!!! Night clubs weren't great!! Very dead!! I didn't see anyone in the Piano bar at all!! I found the BEST martini bar the last night on the boat!! It is called the Papparzzi bar adn the bar tender is great!!

Service

The service on the boat is 2nd to none!! Everyone was always smiling, very helpful even when I saw so many people be rude to them!!!

Example, we had a table of eight behind us at supper and they were constantly swearing and yelling at supper, that is ok, whatever HOWEVER, one night the lady was impatient and didn't get her drink the second she placed the order that she started yelling "this is ridiculous, worst service ever, where is the stupid maitre d" then she got up and got her own drink!! What a fool she made of herself!!!

Our room stewards were great too!! Always smiling and asking mhow my day was!!

Gym

the gym was fabulous!! I went to spinning two of the three days it was offered ($10 each session) and Andre from Romania was a realy hard ass on the bike!! It was GREAT!!!!

The gym was busy the first couple of days but died down towards the middle of the week!!

Ports of Call:

Cozumel - we went to Nachi Cocum and paid the one price for all you can eat and drink, it was fun!! Not sure worth the $$ but had a good time!! We also parasailed there too!!

Grand Cayman Islands - went to sting ray city and then snorkeling...super fun but not enough time on this Island as by the time we got back had to get on the tender boat and didn't have time to shop or hit Margaritaville.

Jamaica - YOU HAVE TO GO TO DUNNS RIVER FALLS!! It was GREAT!!! The only bad thing is I followed the exit signs and ended up in their "shopping area" I COULDN'T GET OUT!!! Every exit sign led me to another shop!! VERY SCARY!!! The vendors followed me calling me into their shops!!! Then we did the bobsled and that was a blast!! Went to Margaritaville for food and drinks and did a bit of shopping but everyone wanted to sell us roasted peanuts or "the good stuff". jamaica was by far the pretties place I have seen (foilage and what not) but also scary and dirty!!

Debarktion

Quick and easy!! we were off by 8:15 and at our hotel and having a nap by 9am!! It was great!!

All in all............I LOVED MY FIRST CRUISE!!!! Our Cruise Director Steve, was good.....kept us informed!!

Not sure if i would cruise Liberty again as I woudl like a ship with an Adults only pool!!

I would love to answer questions anyone may have!!!

Thanks for the review. I am interested in the oceanview room. We are sailing this saturday and have room 1122. Did you notice the waves since we're at the front of the ship? Was it any bigger than the regular ocean view? We are so excited. Its my daughter and my 3 year old grandson so we opted for this room rather than a balcony.

Glad you had a great time.

Thank you for your review!

I am glad that you included the evening entertainment stuff....In the past the Piano Bar has been one of my favorite things to do....my last 2 sailings it was a disppointment and from what I have been reading about the Liberty it does not sound much better....but I am very glad to hear about Tony by the Casino....I will be sure to check him out! I think I read somewhere that he will be there when I sail....

Once again, THANKS and glad that you enjoyed your cruise!

You will LOVE room 1122.....didn't feel the waves at all!!!!! I have never seen an ocean view room but did hear that this room is biggar!! There will be enough room as the room is a great size! The bathroom is tiny but there is a great make up mirror and counter in the main living area!!

Happy sailing!!!

Marcar123,

Thanks for the great review. We cruise on the Liberty in Dec. Hopefully there won't be as many kids but one never knows. By chance do you have the capers? I'd love to get a copy if possible. Thanks.

great review!!

The tables for two are fairly popular - you probably could have switched.

I understand the bit about leaving kids at home, but other kids we have seen on the ship have always been sooooo good.

Glad you had fun!

Enjoyed your review............we are headed to the Liberty in a few weeks.

I hope my daughter isn't disappointed with the small pool; that's one of her favorite things about cruising and she's not interested in Camp Carnival this time. (11 yrs old, but not 12 until the summer....so no Circle C)

DH and I are leaving our 2.5 year old for our cruise in April. Isn't it such mixed feelings??? Our cruise is going to be swarmed with kids b/c of spring break, and as much as I love kids, I wish I had been able to choose a different week. :-/
