AuTiger7 Posted March 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2009 We have only cruised one other time on the Carnival Celebration about 5 years ago. We will be on the Carnival Sensation next week. How does the Sensation compare to the Celebration?
obx_fintoo Posted March 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2009 It's bigger and more purple! LOL First thing you will notice is that the Sensation has an atrium area with glass elevators and a lobby bar. Other than that big opening in the middle, the decks are kind of the same. Promendade will be where the casino and most bars are; Lido for pools, etc. Since the Sensation (which is a Fantasy class ship) is only the next level up from the Holiday class (which is what the Celebration was) it is not so much bigger that you lose the small town feel, but you will definitly know you are on a bigger ship! Enjoy your cruise!

AuTiger7 Posted March 6, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted March 6, 2009 I leave in a little over a week. Has anyone else sailed on both ships?
karenw Posted March 6, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 6, 2009 I was on the Sensation years ago. And on the Holiday (sister to Celebration) since then. The Celebration was very disappointing to me in appearance but I still had a great time. The big difference was the missing atrium.
JTfromGA Posted March 6, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2009 I have been on both. As much as I enjoyed the Celebration (my first cruise since my honeymoon) the Sensation was a good replacement. It is still one of the smaller ships in the Carnival line, but it has the feel of a larger ship because of the Atrium. I will be leaving on the Holiday (sister ship of the Celebration) in a few weeks but looking forward to the Fantasy taking it's place. You will enjoy the Sensation much more! FLCruiser001 Posted March 6, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2009 I cannot comment on the Celebration, but the links below will lead you to the photos from my two previous cruises on the Sensation. The first was before EOF drydock, the second was after. Hopefully this will give you an idea of what to expect. http://good-times.webshots.com/album/562678328SjRvzH?vhost=good-times Before EOF drydock http://family.webshots.com/album/570329824acmhow?vhost=family After EOF drydock
Ship Addict Posted March 6, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 6, 2009 I loved the Celebration. Yes, it is a smaller ship, but I thought she was great. I didn't miss the atriums too terribly much. The Fantasy class ships are one step up from the Holiday class (which Celebration is in). You have pretty much the same basic layout of the ship except that you have the multilevel atrium thru the middle of the Fantasy class and of course more decks and a few more venues. Things are just a little bit larger. I haven't been on the Sensation but have sailed on plenty of other Fantasy class ships. If you liked the Celebration, you'll LOVE the Sensation. I was supposed to sail on the Sensation in 2005 but they contracted her out to Katrina peeps and we went on the Elation instead.

marym933 Posted March 8, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 8, 2009 I've been on both ships. The Lido buffet on the Sensation is a slightly better design than the Celebration's. There is more seating room and more modern food serving areas. The Sensation had a sushi cart. I don't remember that on the Celebration. The shops were a little larger. Sensation has a steam room and sauna and mini-golf, Celebration did not.
spikester Posted March 8, 2009 #11 Share Posted March 8, 2009 I haven't been on the Celebration, but I was on the Carnivale a long long time ago.. Anyway, the sensation is an awesome ship. I went on it 2x last summer and had a blast. The crew was very nice and friendly.
