Puerto Limon local bus to boats and beach

I understand there is frequent local bus service between Puerto Limon and Moin (distance of approx. 3 miles). Moin is where you can pick up a canal tour boat for about $15 pp. Has anyone done this independently? My concern is not safety. I'd like to know if the buses are in fact frequent; where is a bus stop close to the port; the cost of a taxi - Moin to Limon for the return if the bus is not an option.

There is a local beach about 4K out of town...I believe south. Has anyone used the local bus to get there?

I enjoy mixing with the local people when I travel and following their routine. Taking local transportation provides that. I'd like to experience the bus rather than a taxi.
