TampaMom2Girls Posted March 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2009 We are new to Princess but are confident we will love the Star! What can you tell me that isn't in the brochure? Any good insider tips? Tell me about the beverage cards. How small really are the quad cabins on Plaza level? Drinks of the day? Any souvenir glasses? Is the entertainment family-friendly? Please...share your love of the Princess line and tell me all the good stuff!

TampaMom2Girls Posted March 8, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted March 8, 2009 That's where we're headed in June. Trip of a lifetime, we cannot wait! Want to get the most out of the ship as well as the destination. Looking forward to some great tips!
luvlabs Posted March 8, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2009 We were also on the Star (Alaska) last year and had a really great time. Be aware that the excursions sell out quickly, if you wait until you get on the ship instead of booking them on-line you probably won't get what you want. We did the canopy zip-line in Ketchikan (it was a blast). The kayak in Skagway (breathtaking) and the tram in Juneau (boring). We have been on 10-12 cruises and this was one of the best so far. Anytime dining is so much better than the traditional, you eat when you want and sit with who you want or with new people. :D

Two uppers, two lowers, a desk/dressing table with mirror, desk chair, one upholstered chair and small table (if there isn't enough room they can remove the chair and table for you) and closet. Bathroom is quite compact with small shower only.

cynbar Posted March 8, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 8, 2009 Almost all the entertainment is family friendly. Only the Newlywed Game and the late-night comedians might be a little risque, all the regular shows will be fine for all ages.
mii Posted March 8, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2009 To save your sanity and I mean that in the most sincere way if you have questions about tipping(Auto-tip) dress codes(either formal or smart casual) smoking etc. these are very, very hot subjects. Just do a search where the page numbers are Search this Forum and all sorts of info will come up. I have been on the Star and it is a wonderful ship. It was in dry-dock last Sept. and has the MUTS(Movies under the Stars) International Cafe, Sanctuary, Vines. You will love alaska. There is all sorts of info over on the Ports of call board. Take a peek there. Tons of information. Marilyn
