Is it easy to get taxis from playa corona around 6:00?

We are going to try and go to Playa Corona for about two hours if we have the time after seeing the ruins so it would probably be around 4:00 - 6:00. Can you still rent equipment that late in the day and be able to get a taxi easily before they close at 6:00? Someone said something about crossing over the street and getting taxis easily and cheaper. Anyone know anything about that?
