Is it easy to get taxis from play corona beach around 6:00?

We were wondering if we could get a taxi around 6:00 right before they close fairly easily to get back to town? If you can't get to the beach till around 4:00 can you still rent snorkeling equipment then? Someone was saying something about walking over across the street to get a taxi easier and cheaper from the other side of the road. Anyone know anything about that? Just don't want to do that close to closing time and then not be able to get someone to call for us from the beach if needed. Is the snorekling still good here?
