Should I get a notarized letter?

I have always gotten a notarized letter when I took my kids on a cruise without DH. This time, I am not sure I will have time! (I leave Thursday). I have never been asked for it ever, even when travelling with a birth certificate for my son. This time around I have a passport for my DD. Should I try and sneak in SOMEWHERE and get a notarized letter letting me take my DD?

Most banks have folks who are notaries on-staff -- call a branch of your bank close to where your husband works. It will only take a moment to do and as others have said, the one time you travel without, will be the time you are asked.

Just FYI a few years back we were the first cruise "of the season" through Alaska -- the US and Canadians had a lot of trainees who were required to go completely by the book. DH was "lollygagging" and had gotten separated from DD and me, and we had to embarrass my DH and make him skip up in line to "prove" we were travelling together at one port - so they do sometimes ask about it. (he just hates being singled out and called up to the front -- poor dear, but now he is more likely to keep up :D)

Do a search on this forum for permission to travel, there is a good one there. It says that my DH gives permission for my DD to travel X on X and return X and the cruise ship and that I have permission for medical treatments and it has his name/addy/phone and then he will sign in front of the notary.
