Car rental from LA Cruise port

Hi,

I am looking for inputs on how best to pick up a rental car after my NCL cruise arriving at the port of LA. What would be the best way or closest car rental location after departing from the cruise ship? I would be dropping off the car at the airport and flying back home.

I have never been to LA therefore any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Peter

The only close-by company right in San Pedro is Enterprise, and they are closed on Sundays and after noon on Saturdays. They also usually charge a drop off fee if you don't return the car to the same location. Otherwise your options would be to use Hertz in Lomita and take a cab there (they will reimburse you $10) or take a cab or shuttle to the Long Beach Airport and rent from them. Either way, you may have a drop-off fee if you deliver to LAX instead of your original rental location, so be sure to ask about this and about the hours that they are open when you are planning to rent and drop off.

How many more days are you spending in LA? If you are just going to LAX from the cruise ship terminal, a cab or shuttle would be easier and less expensive.

FYI: I just rented from Hertz in Lomita in September 2009. They no longer reimburse any taxi fare (as of early 2009). However, Princess Cruises did operate a $5pp shuttle to/from Long Beach so it may be a more economical option to rent from one of the agencies in Long Beach.

Emgee,

Could you please give some more information on the Princess shuttle for $5 per person. Where does the shuttle drop you off in Long Beach and is this with your luggage?

Thanks,

Sorry, I didn't take the shuttle so I don't have any additional information. It was mentioned in the disembarkation information from Princess.
