Reef rocket Belize

I read on this board that the week of March 15th the reef rocket snorkeling in Belize was cancelled. We are scheduled to do this on 4/7 - next week. Does anyone know if the cancellation was due to weather or is it something ongoing with that excursion? If anyone has done this excursion recently your comments are appreciated. Thanks

I was on that sailing - that excursion and a bunch of others were cancelled that day. RLC would only say that a tragic accident had occurred on Bannister Island where a bunch of tours either go or leave from....the newspapers and our guide for a substitute tour told us that there was a murder on the island that was being investigated and the police had shut the island down for at least 8 days. Hopefully it will be open by the time you get there! Our guide did tell us that it's a safe place and that crime is pretty rare.... Good luck.
