Celebrity or RCCL

We have found a good mix of ages on all 15 of our Celebrity cruises and never saw the ship "DEAD" after 9:30

I guess we just we missed out.

FYI our two X cruises were not to the MED so they were not port intensive. On the other hand our MED cruise on RCCL was very active at night even though it was port intensive.

Thank you, can you give some specific's on what you liked better.

Service, food, and attention to detail; Celebrity wins hands down. A little bit older demographic on the ship, and not as many activities for the under 60 crowd, (one drawback). Little things such it is difficult to walk past a crew member without them smiling, most remember your name, and you actually see your room stewards. They have clergy to meet about every Denomination's needs. In the dining room, after the first night, whatever you are drinking is waiting at your table for you by the time you sit down for dinner. They truly make you feel special. We have cruised numerous times on four different cruise lines including RCCL, and still have yet found anyone to top Celebrity's service.

For me it would likely depend on the ship. If it's Solstice or Equinox, I'd definitely go with Celebrity. If it's a Radiance-class ship vs an M-class ship, we might do the Radiance-class ship. In the Med, so much time is spent in port that you don't have nearly as much time to enjoy the ship. If it's a Voyager class ship vs any Celebrity ship, we'd go with Celebrity. So for us, it would depend on the ship. I don't want to be in the Med on a Voyager class ship. Solstice is as big as I'd want to sail in the Med.

The comment about the Radiance class ship and M class is interesting. They are both the "same" ship but the Radiance class had been configured to hold more passengers than the M class. I would choose Celebrity in that case.

I've been on 7 Royal Caribbean cruises, I did all the newer Royal Caribbean shopping mall type ships and activity ships. I was surpised how nice Celebrity Solstice was. Celebrity's new smoking policy was nice, fewer announcements, more relaxing, and I thought the food was overall better especially in the buffet. Celebrity has an older crowd than Royal Caribbean. That doesn't bother me though.

I think Royal Caribbean had better coupons and perks than Celebrity. For example, free ben & jerry's and free johnny rockets. None of the coupons were "free" on Celebrity. You had to buy something to get their value.

I was pleasantly surprised how impressed I was with Celebrity though compared to Royal Caribbean. It was my first Celebrity cruise on Celebrity Solstice. My second will be Celebrity Equinox in January. :) I can definitley switch back and forth from Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. I liked the smoke free casinos too.

I most likely will never try Carnival again though (unless there is an awesome price, lol and that would have to be on their newest ship). I enjoy Royal Caribbean's and Celebrity's ships better. :)

I'm a Diamond member on RCL but don't think I'll get to use it again as I'm so disappointed in RCCL. I feel like they've cut it to the bare bones so much, it's below Carnival. Cheap cuts of meat and lamb in the dining room, no toiletries in the bathroom (except a dispenser of all-purpose shampoo/conditioner in the shower), a melee in the buffet area and a feeling of nickel-and-diming you to death for everything extra. The one nice perk is the special Crown and Anchor lounge for Diamond members, with nightly cocktails and appetizers, but that's not enough to make me go back unless there's a fabulous price and/or itinerary.

Never been on Celebrity but want to, my question is since both RCI & Celebrity are partners the points or cruise credits will count for features cruises in RCI if I decide to give a try to Celebrity? thx

Each line keeps their own count and cruise credits are NOT added together. However, membership is offered at the reciprocal level in the other's club once you are at the over 5 cruise credits levels.

Thanks for all the advise. Looks like we are changing from RCL Voyager to Celebrity Constillation in Sept. 2010. I also noticed as of late the attitude on this board is a little more positive than the RCCL board.
