debs0712 Posted April 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2009 Has anyone been able to catch a very early flight home from Rome?? We are booked at 9:30am and it says that the ship arrives at 4am.
Trixsea Posted April 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2009 I had an 11:00 am flight and that was tight.
traveling1969 Posted April 2, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2009 I'm tempted to say "not a chance" but occasionally miracles happen. In reality there is probably no chance to make that flight. The port is over an hour from the airport; you need to be there 2 hours prior and to expect disembarkation to occur by 6:30 am is just wishful thinking I'm afraid. You would be well advised to do what most of us do; book a hotel for arrival date and fly out the next day. Bon Voyage!
Coolcruise02 Posted April 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2009 On Carnival's website under "Frequently Asked Questions" it lists earliest flight departure time for Rome as 9:30 but I don't remember what it was for our RCCL med cruise but I bet it's the same. You will be at the pier very early so I would book a private ride and have them there early! We had an 11:15 flight we made with plenty of time and others on our shuttle had a 10:30 flight. We booked a private shuttle to pick up our CC group at 6:30. We were off the ship at 6:00 but could have gotten off earlier. It is a 50min trip to the airport with no traffic. (Thur morning for us) We were away from the pier around 6:45 and were sitting at the gate at 9:00.
madforcruising Posted April 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2009 Even though the ship arrives 4am, you won´t be able to get off at that time. I have had a 9:50 flight and I had pre-arranged private transfers. I made it in plenty of time, but having said that it was a European flight and security for those is not as tight as for flights across and you have later check-in times. In addition I was well aware that I might not make that flight and had plenty options later in the day. For a transatlantic flight, I wouldn´t risk it. JMHO.
