RaceMedic Posted April 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2009 Folks ..... First THANK-YOU for commenting about my personal info being on the letters ... STUPID me ... didn't even think of that. For those who MAY want to read my story ... feel free to. The purpose of this post is for new cruisers to learn from our mistake ... that is all. ALL I AM SAYING IS THIS .... I trusted Carnival to take care of a first time, inexperienced cruiser. We feel that they did not ... could have made some simple gestures to keep us as a future client and it simply appears that THEY DON'T CARE. Here are my letters ….. http://www.racemedical.com/Letter-1.pdf http://www.racemedical.com/Letter-2.pdf http://www.racemedical.com/Letter-3.pdf http://www.racemedical.com/Letter-4.pdf Letter 1 & 3 are from myself …. Letter 2 & 4 are their response. Dave

Kurbanfan Posted April 6, 2009 #8 Share Posted April 6, 2009 I read your links on your other thread and I agree with you 100%. Carnivals response was pathetic. Not sure how Carnival gets off advertising airfares thru them but yet taking no responsibility....... Hopefully people will read your experience and NOT BOOK AIRFARE THRU CARNIVAL..... I would also keep writing letters to them...... Good luck!

RaceMedic Posted April 6, 2009 Author #12 Share Posted April 6, 2009 I received a phone call today from them ... ironically the same day I got letter #4 and I was outright told they would not respond any further and that as far as they are concerned this case is closed ! skippyy Posted April 6, 2009 #13 Share Posted April 6, 2009 Read your original post and responses from Carnival..I understand your consternation, yet...there is a learning curve for cruise travel..You must actively be involved in managing your travel.and most of us have learned that the same way you are:mad: while I am not Carnivals biggest fan, you would have received a much similar response from most of the lines...travel contracts limit liability and imdemnify everyone but you:eek: they certainly could have helped you out with your clothes.Did you have cruise insurance ? another part of learning curve, when you don't buy it you need it  These post have helped me considerably when it comes to organizing for a more successful cruise...welcome to the club:)
parrotthead Posted April 6, 2009 #14 Share Posted April 6, 2009 Race, I thought your letters were very well thought out and well written. All I can says is I am surprised that that yu did not receive better service while onboard. Really surprised. I hope you will cruise again. I hope Carnival makes things right also. That's why prices are so cheap. And of course, never let a cruise line ever book your flights again. Just from curiosity, What cruise lines do you have in your portfolio to make the "prices are so cheap" comment. Every cruise on Carnival has met or exceeded my expectations....I realize that events happen that may alter my oppinion, however, when something was wrong, it was corrected ASAP I am not high maintenance and just go with the flow...maybe that is why I enjoy myself
Disneycruisers Posted April 6, 2009 #16 Share Posted April 6, 2009 You do have valid complaints. I'm so sorry your first cruise got off to such a lousy start. Did you ever receive your luggage? If so, did it improve your cruise experience?:)

parrotthead Posted April 6, 2009 #19 Share Posted April 6, 2009 (if the OP had booked on his own I would have not a lot of sympothy, however with Carnival making the arrangments one does expect to at least be taken care )
eco Posted April 6, 2009 #20 Share Posted April 6, 2009 I'm sorry for you, luckily we found this board before our first cruise and knew all the possible pitfalls involved and were able to have an absolute fantastic vacation on Carnival. The flight stuff is disturbing as they should know better than to book something so tight schedule wise, but I would never allow them to book my flights after this and other stories from this board that you were not aware of at the time. The only thing that really bothers me is the tux rentals, thier letter even admits that they should have given you vouchers for the rentals, shame on the ships staff for not doing so. The least they could do would be to offer you tux vouchers for your next cruise since it didn't appear they would offer any discount for you to try them again. I hope you enjoy your next cruise on whatever cruiseline you decide to use.
Traveler353 Posted April 6, 2009 #21 Share Posted April 6, 2009 Racemedic: I apologize for my initial response. It was stupid and out of line. After I actually took the time to read your letters, I now understand your anger and concerns and believe that Carnival was totally out of line in all respects. Good Luck in your future cruising and if you decided not to give Carnival or this board another shot I for one would completly understand.
oakleys Posted April 6, 2009 #22 Share Posted April 6, 2009 You should have booked your own flts, & gone from buffalo to save $. I can see why you say you wont again, but it pays to know a few things. I always book everything myself. You should have gone the day before to. Still atleast you got on the ship. woodey Posted April 6, 2009 #23 Share Posted April 6, 2009 I remember your original post about this....I feel Carnival stiffed you here abit and i am sorry they wont make it better....I am however glad to read that you did have Insurance to help pay for the clothes you could of purchased the tux rental and charged the Insurance for it.....but for me what is most appauling is the fact your meds where left behind and the staff did nothing to help you with that.....that could of really been a problem for you and i am glad it was not! lrjhubbard Posted April 6, 2009 #24 Share Posted April 6, 2009 I'm glad you reposted. I tried to reply on your last thread right after it must have been yanked. I hope that people will think through their responses before getting ugly this time. I appreciate the info and you have probably saved some others from your experience by posting. I really hope Carnival makes this right, although I doubt they will judging from their response (or lack there of, I should say).
dec2007w3boys Posted April 6, 2009 #25 Share Posted April 6, 2009 I am a Carnival Fan - but I have to side with you on this one. I hope you do indeed cruise again (and I can see why Carnival wouldn't be your choice!) By posting your experience on places like Cruise Critic, you are certainly helping to educate others. Unfortunately, it doesn't help you much. The fact that they didn't do anything for you amazes me. I had an indident with a pvp and was given 4 photo coupons as an apology for Carnival. Unbelievable on their part. Best wishes with your future travels and know there will be some here that some how make this out to be your fault - ignore them.
