bqkali Posted April 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2009 We paid for our excursion by credit card and did some shopping with US dollars (cheap souvenirs and things, no big purchases like jewelry). As long as you paid with a small bill ($20 or less), they were happy to give change in US dollars everywhere we went. But if you are worried about it, just bring lots of 1's and 5's. AAA_cruiser Posted April 7, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2009 Belize took our USD's and also exchanged back with dollars as well. I recommend shopping out on the street and not right in the shopping area off the dock. The price difference was amazing. Inside the port/dock shirts were 25 bucks, outside- 8 to 10! Shop around! MobileMystic Posted April 9, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2009 In Belize we tool an excursion that included San Pedro with is a small town. They gladly accepted US but half the time we received change in Belize currency and coin.:) Take small bills, if you prefer. We actually enjoyed keeping the Belize currency as keep sakes from the trip. For larger purchases the stores at and around the pier will accept Visa, etc. Let the credit card do the conversion. (you receipt will show BLZ $)
