Chair hogs: Fact or fiction?

I know that the pool chair hog topic has been beaten to death over and over on these boards, but I came across this little video this morning which shows the chair hogs in action.

Watching it made me want to grab a trash can and just throw all those towels and bags in it! :D

Did I see one towel holding two chairs?

If you really want to make a chair hogger mad. Take the Carnival Logo towels they leave out to save their chairs and now you don't have to pay for your "souvenir" towel.:D Not like they would see you later in the cruise using a navy blue Carnival towel and confront you about it.;)

Great Idea. Better than turning into Lost and Found. :D:D

Just pick a chair with a magazine, sit down and start reading . When the hog arrives and rudely informs you that you are in their chair, smile and politely tell them that as there is posted no chair saving and these chairs were empty of warm bodies, that you figured the magazines must have been left by Carnival, and that they can read it if they want when your finished with it. :D

If i saw a towel on a chair at 530am, I would assume it was left over from the day before and toss it off, and set myself into that chair if I was so inclined..I've tossed towels off before. I've also ignored the idiots that 'save 8-10 seats in the theater...I just sit down....Tough...it's my vacation too... i make sure i get to the theater early to get a seat...If others decide to go to the casino, have another drink til the very last minute, too bad, I'm sitting!

we usually get to the pool around 930 and stake out lounges that seem to be abandoned for 10 minutes or more at which point we take whatever is on the lounges off them and park oursleves. Only once did we have a confrontation w/ people who came 2 hours after we were there and basically told them where to go. A couple times people came back w/ in 1/2 hour of us being there where we simply got up and relinquished them w/ no issues telling the people we thought they left. In either case I feel it's everyones right to use the 10-20 minute rule depending on how comfortable you are with it. We are from NJ so it's easy for us. :D

Some see chair hogs as a negative but I choose to see the opportunity!

On the "what you can get for free on the cruise" thread I will never forget a member stating that he got a lot of free stuff... books, towels, suntan lotion, sun glasses... he thought it was the best part of the cruise... chair hogs be warned!

Does my bringing booze onboard take away from your fun, or use of the ship?

People who bring booze on board impact the cost of my crusie. Carnnival is a business. They must make a certain amount of money on each cruise. That money is earned via ticket prices, shore excusions, shops, booze, etc. When you cheat by bringing booze on board, Carnival sales less booze, thus, the money has to be made up somewhere else like higher ticket prices. Higher ticket prices means that I have less money to spend on other fun producing things. Thus, your booze impacts my fun.

Whille you are sleeping off last nights comsumption, I get up early, lay me stuff on my favoriate chair, go to breakfest and come back to my chair. You enjoy your booze, I enjoy my chair.

By the way, Carnnival allows one to save their chair for up to 30 minutes. Otherwise, how could one could not enjoy the pool.

There are rules against bringing booze onboard the ship too but many people here think thats ok' date=' but let one guy put a magazine on a chair before noon......I guess we can pick and choose the rules we want to follow. :D[/quote']

EXACTLY!!!! If you are going to preach about the rules and regulations then you should follow ALL of them, not just the ones you want to. Chair hogs are annoying, but you can almost always find some place to sit so who cares.

Carnival rules say that you have 30 minutes. You have no right to remove anything that is not yours. I'm from the backwoods of KY. We open a can of kick ass than ask questions. It is easy for us.

Are you going to put the swim diapers from your 75% potty trained kid on YOUR chairs?

My folks and I were on a 5-day out of Jax a couple of years back and we get on the Lido and there is this woman duct-tapping laminated signs to certain chairs around the pool. Mind you, it's February and not exactly swimming weather. So out of curiousity, I ask this woman rather politely what it is she's doing. She informs me she's reserving her family's chairs for the cruise. I admit it, I laughed. She gave me a cock-eyed look and said made a comment to the effect of "what are you gonna do about it?" and then called me a "pushy Yankee" and didn't I know this was how things worked and a whole lot of other stuff. I had only laughed, hadn't said a word and her diatribe merely made me laugh harder. That, and the fact that one of the Carnival hospitality folks had noticed the signs and was proceeding to remove them. I turned to my mother and said "Hey Mom, I think a chair just opened up."

Well, this woman dove across five of the six chairs in an attempt to prevent us from sitting down. I swear to God, dove across those chairs like she was going for a touchdown pass. It was about this time my father joined us, looked at this woman scrambling to cover six chairs with her five-foot nothing frame, and basically asked what the hell was going on. It was about this time my prone friend, who was now doing some sort of breat-stroke to cover the chairs started screaching. Carnival staff arrived. We quietly went to lunch. I don't think I saw that woman the rest of the cruise.

HA! This cracked me up! Thanks for the vivid imagery! I would have been laughing at this woman, too. And I might have even picked up one of her signs and stuck it on her butt for the finale. :D

Cool Video thanks for posting, oh and by the way, I didn't know that those items actually belong to cruise passengers  I thought that Carnival was so nice to add those items for us Platinum Guest. I like it when Carnival leaves magazines and sun tan lotion for me to use. :D

already said he's not wearing swim diapers. pay attention and try to make better use of your time than digging up old threads that ended because they were boring

I would take all their magazines and have reading material for the rest of my cruise. Then turned them to lost and found on the very last day.. you know, like a "magazine loan" :D. Officially.. they were "abandoned" lmao.

Kidding aside, I have no desire to roast my ass on the sun and be an old prune because of the sun effects on my skin later on in life. But chair hogers are real and very annoying! but I guess that no ship can make sun chairs for 3000 passengers, right??

If I was there, and it was 8 am and no one was sitting on those chairs but had "markers" all over them, lets say I would like to enjoy a cup of coffee and be on the outside for a little bit, I would move the towel to the very top of the chair, then would proceed to enjoy my coffee quietly on that chair. Or better yet.. enjoy my coffee reading one of their magazines! ahhh! life is good!

If I did decide to break the rules and bring some alcohol on board, that would not interfere with your cruise at all. But if you decide to hog a chair, that does interfere with my enjoyment of the cruise. Apples and oranges, they do not compare at all.

Hey now, dont disturb my Rotting Oranges I had placed out a few weeks ago for an upcoming cruise I am taking next month. I had them placed there to save a few chairs around the pool for me when I get onboard. Now any apples you find laying out, feel free to take & dispose of.....

I agree. Carnival DOES state that you have 30 minutes and I always make sure that the chairs have been empty for AT LEAST that long.

However, after that time, your stuff is gone. I'll be kind enough to hand it off to an attendent, so you will probably find it in lost and found. If you don't like that, then too bad. I don't tolerate chair hogs and if I want that chair, they should have been in it or been back in less than 30 minutes.

And I'm from South Carolina, I'm only 5'5" and weigh in at 125 lbs. But, my husband is 6' 4 1/2" and weighs in around 225/230. So I'll call your open can of kick ass and up you one more, plus a good deck dragging if you so much as utter anything more than, "Thank you, ma'am. I'll go look for my things I so rudely left in your way." :D

Which RCCI ship were you on?

Liberty of the Seas. We were just on her over spring break. They tagged the chairs of people who dropped off their things and then walked away. AFter 30 minutes to one hour they bagged the things and put the bags behind the towel counter.
