MiddleEarth Posted April 7, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2009 We've been on several Alaskan cruises before but have never ziplined. Which is better: Ketchikan or Juneau?? I can't provide first hand response to that question but on a Celebrity cruise to Alaska, we had a stop at Icy Point Strait. It was claimed that the zip line there was the longest in the world. It was 5330 feet long with a vertical drop of 1300 feet. It is six cables wide and is as high as 300 feet above open ground. All told, about 1.5 minutes long. http://www.icystraitpoint.com/pages/ziprider.html
miniwheat Posted April 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2009 I did Keitchan (sorry can't spell it) last year and I'm doing Juneau in July, I can't wait:D
intopuffins Posted April 8, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted April 8, 2009 I heard Hoonna was too short and besides, we dont stop there! Im thinking we'll do the zipline in Juneau. We're all booked for Sitka and are on a little bit of a budget this year so we are looking for one more excursion.
Love to Cook! Posted April 13, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2009 We did the one in Juneau last year and it was a BLAST!!!! The same company runs the one in Ketchikan so I imagine it will be good as well. Juneau has more zip lines and Ketchikan has more suspension bridges (if that helps!)
