kelz66 Posted April 9, 2009 #186 Share Posted April 9, 2009 Yes.......but we don't want to get in a arguement about second hand smoke now do we:confused::D:p no we don't...and yes..it is one of many risk factors. Risk factors for pancreatic cancer include: [7][5] Age (particularly over 60)[5] Male gender African-American ethnicity[5] Smoking. Cigarette smoking has a risk ratio of 1.74 with regard to pancreatic cancer; a decade of non-smoking after heavy smoking is associated with a risk ratio of 1.2. [8] Diets low in vegetables and fruits[9] Diets high in red meat[10] Obesity[11] Diabetes mellitus Chronic pancreatitis has been linked, but is not known to be causal Helicobacter pylori infection Family history, 5-10% of pancreatic cancer patients have a family history of pancreatic cancer. The genes responsible for most of this clustering in families have yet to be identified. Pancreatic cancer has been associated with the following syndromes; autosomal recessive ataxia-telangiectasia and autosomal dominantly inherited mutations in the BRCA2 geneand PALB2 gene, Peutz-Jeghers syndrome due to mutations in the STK11 tumor suppressor gene, hereditary non-polyposis colon cancer (Lynch syndrome), familial adenomatous polyposis, and the familial atypical multiple mole melanoma-pancreatic cancer syndrome (FAMMM-PC) due to mutations in the CDKN2A tumor suppressor gene.[12][2] Gingivitis or periodontal disease. Vanessa L Posted April 9, 2009 #187 Share Posted April 9, 2009 HUH? Don't even get me started on the smoke tax and what the tax is being used to fund....GRRRRr.... I was merely pointing out that RCI is charging higher prices for their cruises than Carnival (at least according to all the folks I see over here now from RCI--well that, and perk loss) and, how do people afford that? I summized that, if you are not a smoker (so you wouldn't care if they allowed smoking in the rooms) you probably have way more money to afford the prices at RCI because you're not paying for cigs (which, I pointed out are even more expensive now with the new tax). It was just a mental process (my own) said out loud. Nevermind if you don't get it, often times I don't either :D

CarnivalCruiseLover Posted April 9, 2009 #189 Share Posted April 9, 2009 Didn't you say this person went balllistic because they could not smoke:confused::rolleyes: Yeah she did. She had paid for a smoking cabin, not a non smoking cabin. Besides this thread wasn't created by me. I added a statement and an example. But I can quote mean items on this thread about smoke on the balcony, etc, so don't even try it.
