Brroklyn cruise terminal to mid town hotel

We are arriving in New York on the Qm2 on 19th June and staying one night in a mid town hotel. The hotel has quoted $189 dollars for a car to pick us up at the port which sounds really expensive. Can anyone tell me how available the taxis are first thing in the morning.

Marilyn,

We were virtually first off QM last October and got a cab straight away at the terminal.

He dropped us at the ESB and it cost us $45.

Bear in mind that we were intransit, so had no luggage.

There are other good firms that you can pre reserve, am sure some of the others here will provide some links.

Hi Cruzadict ,

I too am recently back from a transatlantic voyage on the Queen Mary 2 , we stayed at the Marriot in Times Square and just to let you know that the journey will take approx 25 - 30 minutes to get to Red Hook depending on the traffic . My advice to you is to book a yellow cab through your hotel ( booking this should cost nothing ) Dont forget to ask for a quote , but it should be under $60.00 . Then you can relax and enjoy your stay in New York .:cool::cool:

Have disembarked many times in Brooklyn and always gotten a cab first off. There is a taxi starter (man) who keeps the line in order etc. The cost should be about $45 to mid town. No need to order a town car unless you have multiple bags and the pre ordered town cars have to circle the town car pick up area (on the left as you exit terminal) and it can be confusing. We have done it both ways and now only use taxi.
