Snorkel from Shore - Belize?

Is there anywhere in Belize to snorkel from shore?

There is nowhere around Belize City for any beach activities - you must either go to a Caye or book an excursion. Look for the posts on Coral Sands as this may be your best bet.

We would like to do an excursion but we will be on the Grand Princess next year & it does not appear that they offer any excursions in which you can snorkel from shore so at this point I am trying to find a tour with an outside company that goes somewhere where we can snorkle from shore.

Generally not done from shore because of the sea grass beds. The best trip is to fly to San Pedro and the get a private trip to the reef

It is my understanding that you can snorkel from shore at Goff's Caye. I don't think there are any independents that currently go there. We're booking a tour through the ship. The reviews are fabulous and if you search this board, there are some photos from a cruiser on RCCL. He compares it to Gilligan's island.
