paradiseseekers Posted April 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2009 Do you ever get bored with The Color Teams, Bingo 3 xday Hairy chest contest Vegas shows and comedians LEGENDS?????? The newly wed game I love Carnival but find it hard to understand why they don't change things up a bit. pungo3 Posted April 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2009 No. If I don't think I'll enjoy the show, I don't go. There are plenty of other ways to have fun on the ship. Some people actually like the fact that all the cruises have the same entertainment. If I'm on the ship, I'm happy. Honestly, I don't expect them to entertain me. Besides, after enough drinks, all these items can be extremely funny.:D:D

LorrieB Posted April 16, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 16, 2009 I love trying to increase my ship on a stick collection. How many is too many??????? My favorite..... gold and silver by the inch!!!!!!!! No, really!!!!!! I love it all!!!!!!
shortstop95 Posted April 16, 2009 #8 Share Posted April 16, 2009 I know what you're saying. Those particular things don't necessarily bother me.. but at one stretch we did several Carnival cruises in a short period of time all of which seem to have John Heald on as cruise director. I did get tired of hearing the same jokes at the shows/talks.

Guest kwaichang Posted April 16, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 16, 2009 This stuff is the main reason why we have not cruised Carnival in years. The constant hawking and bothering while you're trying to relax on deck just got to us. Basically the age bracket for Carnival is teen to mid 30's early 40's tops, IIRC

crusnbee Posted April 16, 2009 #15 Share Posted April 16, 2009 I think they are 'amusing'. I do wish they'd come up with new questions for the newly/not so newlywed game. The same ones for over 12 years, just new people.... CJ

The newly wed game I love Carnival but find it hard to understand why they don't change things up a bit. We have been on 5 Carnival Cruises and have found these same things on every boat:confused: Never understood the "color" thingie and don't care. Don't play bingo......too expensive....to short...too many people...prizes aren't worth it. Don't go to any shows except maybe the late night comedian Don't hang at the pool so don't see the pool contests Don't play the games. I cruise for the sea. During the day, I usually find a quiet lounge chair someplace and read, watch the sea, maybe catch a little sun...or will hang on my balcony enjoying the peace and quiet. I like to take my walk around sunrise on an upper deck, nap in the afternoon, hang at the casino bar before dinner to listen to some music, have a few drinks, have a late dinner, play a few hands of Caribbean Stud, meet some likeminded folks, have a good conversation or two and off to bed around midnight. I don't take shore excursions...preferring to do my own thing or staying on board.... Everyone looks for their own enjoyment while at sea. ...and, I don't recall ever being bored in my entire life. It's much to short to be bored.
gaylensgigi Posted April 16, 2009 #17 Share Posted April 16, 2009 Nope. Once I walk across the plank to the ship, I get this silly grinn that stays there the whole cruise.I have only watched the hairy man one time and it was funny. There is so much to do,or nothing to do(read a book, have a drank, relax).I try not to plan to much ahead and then just go with the flow. Relax, you are on a ship in the middle of the ocean, darn sight better than hitting a time clock:D
tampafish Posted April 16, 2009 #18 Share Posted April 16, 2009 I have to say that some of the items on your list I do look forward to. However, I really wish that Carnival would get some new talent on the ships and I'd love to see the cruise directors get creative with their offerings for games and little events around the ship. We just got off the Valor (4/5/09 sailing) and Percy Cruz was the comedian. We saw him on the Triumph last year and he was doing the same bit. There was also a vantrilaquist, a bad magician and a production show and that was it - blech! The magic show on the Triumph last year was amazing. I would love to go and see some high quality shows on board!!! On the flip side, we were delightfully surprised by the amount and quality of live entertainment on the ship. We loved the Music Asia group. There was trivia everyday, but we really aren't into that - I didn't see any card (bridge, hearts, spades, non-casino) tournaments either. We did enjoy twisted Scatagories where they gave out medals instead of ships on a stick. I think Carnival could come up with some better shows and entertainment. Karaoke should also either run longer or have early hours so families with kids can go and then later in the evening the adults can go and have a good time watching the drunk singers. I missed that on this cruise.
delta cruiser Posted April 16, 2009 #19 Share Posted April 16, 2009 Yes, personally I do get tired of the same shows and games, but it doesn't ruin my vacation. I still love to cruise. Dh and I just find other things to do, like go to the piano bar, or just go outside at night and and relax under the stars. During the day we usaully take a nap when there's not much going on because we get up early and go to bed late, so we use that time to catch up on sleep. Overall we LOVE cruising!!!! PapaJDub Posted April 16, 2009 #21 Share Posted April 16, 2009 There should be more events targeted at past cruisers. I cruise 3-4 times a year on CCL, so Bingo, the Hairy Chest Contest, Ice Carving, Love & Marriage, etc. do start to get very old. I would love to see some more variety! TakeMeAway1001 Posted April 16, 2009 #22 Share Posted April 16, 2009 I don't enjoy the color game, I do however think it's fun watching newcomers get really involved though. On our last cruise DD got pretty involved in it and it was fun to see her enjoying herself :) I enjoy the shows and the comedians and other things but don't feel the pressing need to show up for all of them like I did when I first started cruising :)

AZ Karaoke Girl Posted April 16, 2009 #24 Share Posted April 16, 2009 The colors thing is fun but what is disappointing is I never hear who the actual winner is. We know who's ahead at certain events but what is the actual outcome overall?? dunno. The legends need to be replaced by better/more popular legends. For example, Brittany Spears is not a legend - maybe in her mind. Lets get a true legend in there like Cher, Reba McEntire etc. Can think of a ton of celebrities that are better, more popular, more often sang karaoke to etc. Elton John & Frank Sinatra are true legends. I agree with previous poster about karaoke. My last cruise was way too short and not often enough. They had it nightly but was usually from like 7:30-9 or 8-9:30. Many people had not even been released from 2nd seating dinner. That ain't right. They need to have it nightly and don't schedule something else in the club following it. Like the hypnotist show started in the club following karaoke so we ended by 9:30 to allow that to fillup and start their show.
